Given the status of Konglish being represented as an illegitimized English langauge variety, there are a number of definitions used to refer to Konglish:

 - A hybrid of  the Korean language and English language.

 - Words borrowed from the English language (Tranter, 1997).

 - Korean ways of speaking English in codes (Shim, 1999).

 - A failed attempt to speak English, bad English (Song-Ae, 2005).

 - Korean English spoken with Korean syntax or Korean-pronunciative English (Hagens, 2004).
